Mama picked up a new leash for Patches and I to share when we go for our walks. She thought that it would easier than two separate leashes, especially since we live in the city with lots of traffic. However, after testing it out all weekend, we happened upon some pretty major flaws.
The first time we used it, the leashes were the same length. Mama did this because she thought it would keep Patches and me on equal footing. And it did, for a little while. Then, I had to stop to poo...and I poo'ed right on Patches' nose before my mama could figure out what was happening! Needless to say, our walk ended there and Patches was forced to have a bath.
After that incident, mama made an adjustment to the lengths - giving me a little more, and Patches a little less. Just when we thought we had a good balance, we all stopped to socialize with an Amber/Charlie knock-off. If you look closely at the picture, you will see that my portion of the leash got wrapped around Patches' neck...when I decided it was time to move on, I pulled on the leash and dragged Patch-man about 15 feet before mama could make the correction.
Oops! Not my fault!!! We're still working on this dual leash thing! After that, mama unhooked us, and finished the walk with two leashes. (Luckily, she came prepared!) I don't know how many more walks it will take for us to perfect this system, but we are not about to give up so soon!

Hello guys,
Good Luck....the Mommy never did figure it out and gave up after a couple of months.
He He....It was funny!!
Have a good week.....Just us & Evander too!!
Oooh, mommy doesn't like using that leash altho it's much easier to handle instead of two leashes in her hands. We also have one but never used it at all...Hey that Golden kinda look like me! But my hair is not that shiny & healthy...hehehe!
Love licks,
Solid Gold Dancer
We were just talking about the dual leash yesterday and thinking about trying it! You guys are working out all the kinks for us! hehehehe Thanks!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
It does take a bit of practice, but eventually the boys will figure it out.
I'm still trying to adjust to walking 3 dogs at once. Now THAT is an adventure!

My uncles are major doofuses and so they never figured out the dual leash thing either. My beagle uncle Jakey gets really irritated by Trigger and it never ends well. Trigs is a little ADD on walks and Jake is tightly wound - not a good combination!
It looks like you and Patches at least have a good sporting chance to make it work! Good luck!

Ahh, Sparky. Life is all about balance ~ so true. Hope you get that worked out soon.
My girl, when she used to have 2 large Dales, used 2 different leashes and kept them both in one hand, but she would twist them together a couple of times so if they pulled, it wouldn't hurt her hand and she could still keep some control. Always a fallback plan if needed.
Goober love,
Stanley
